Like his older brother Madlib, Stones Throw producer/emcee Oh No has a tireless work ethic and a knack for twisted yet highly charismatic sample-drenched beatscapes and bugged-out concept albums. In the past two years, he's dropped an avalanche of new material, including OhNoMite, Dr. No's Kali Tornado Funk, Ashes with Chris Keyes, and Vodka & Ayahuasca with The Alchemist. On Disrupted Ads, he draws inspiration from vintage misleading newspaper advertisements that promise one thing while delivering another. About half instrumentals and half rap joints, this set gives mic time to a bevy of underground favorites (Declaime, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Chali 2Na, MED, Souls of Mischief, Psalm One, and more) while serving up freaky beats aplenty throughout. Don't sleep on "Drifters," "The Difference," "Improvement," and "Punchdrunkpatterns."
