Dylan Gossett

Artist ∙ Country

Songwriter Dylan Gossett trades in a kind of unadorned country that evokes the wide open spaces of his home state of Texas. Born in 1999 in Austin, Gossett was inspired to pick up a guitar in middle school after discovering Ed Sheeran’s music. When formal lessons didn’t work for him, he pieced things together with pointers from his brother and online videos, then gravitated toward classic rock and red-dirt country. The combination of influences rings clear on his 2023 breakthrough single, “Coal”—Gossett’s haunted delivery, world-weary lyrics, and subtly catchy melody turned the song into a viral social media phenomenon. His ensuing work has mined that territory further. He leans into earthy melancholy with tracks like the wistful love song “Beneath Oak Trees” (2023) and the road-running “Somewhere Between” (2024), earning him comparisons to Oklahoman country singer Zach Bryan and establishing him as an artist for whom substance surpasses style.
