Pastor Troy

Artist ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap

Boisterous rapper and producer Pastor Troy has spent over two decades yelling contemplative and self-reflective lyrics over bass-heavy Dirty South–style beats.

• Troy attended Paine College briefly before dropping out to devote his time to his rap group DSGB (Down South Georgia Boys) and his solo career.
• In 1999, Troy released his debut album, We Ready I Declare War. He caused a stir with the single “No Mo Play in G.A.,” a diss track aimed at Master P.
• After signing to Universal Records, Troy released his famous 2002 albumUniversal Soldier. Its Timbaland-produced lead single, “Are We Cuttin’,” was included on the soundtrack for the 2002 action film xXx.
• Troy eventually departed from Universal Records to pursue an independent career marked by a consistent and rapid output of mixtapes and albums.
• In 2016, Troy’s contributions to Atlanta music were formally recognized when BMI honored him with their Legends of ATL Award.
