From childhood, B. Praak aspired to become a singer, but his father—famed Punjabi composer Varinder Bachan—wanted him to become a music director instead.
∙ He has a tattoo of a Shure Model 55 microphone on his right arm.
∙ His influences include Slumdog Millionaire composer A. R. Rahman and Indian-Canadian Punjabi singer-songwriter Jazzy B.
∙ In 2012, Praak met his longtime collaborator, Janni, when the Punjabi lyricist approached him to compose music for an Australian film project that was never completed.
∙ Praak’s song “Naah” earned him a 2018 PTC Punjabi Music Award—the Punjabi equivalent of a Grammy—for Best Music Director for a Single.
∙ His song “Teri Mitti” was featured in the award-winning 2019 Indian epic Kesari.
