Birdman

Artist ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap

As one of rap’s most flamboyant and braggadocious figures, Birdman remains the ringleader of Cash Money Records, a label he founded in the early ’90s.

• Birdman is also known as Baby. He received that nickname as an infant who initially left the New Orleans hospital without a name.
• After cofounding Cash Money Records with brother Ronald, Birdman rapped as B-32. In 1993, he released I Need a Bag of Dope, featuring Mannie Fresh production.
• Having spent time in foster homes after his mother's death, Birdman played a paternal role in Lil Wayne's life following the murder of Weezy's stepfather in 1997.
• In the late 1990s, Birdman and Mannie Fresh formed the Big Tymers. The duo went platinum with both 2000’s I Got That Work and 2002’s Hood Rich.
• He and Weezy partnered for 2006’s Like Father, Like Son, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
• Birdman was involved in a public financial dispute with Lil Wayne. In 2018, a legal ruling ended Wayne’s Cash Money relationship with a cash settlement. Weeks later, Birdman issued Wayne a public apology.
• In 2018, the Big Tymers reunited for the song “Designer Caskets,” the pair’s first release in 14 years.
• Birdman’s net worth has been estimated to be as high as $160 million.
