Elefante

Artist ∙ Pop Latino

Mexican rockers Elefante spent seven years playing local clubs before an impressive performance at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival helped them land a record deal.

∙ Their 2001 debut, El Que Busca Encuentra, earned the band their first radio hit, “Así Es la Vida,” along with a pair of Latin Grammy nominations.
∙ Original frontman Reyli Barba hit No. 1 in Mexico and placed in the Top 20 of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart with “Amor del Bueno” from his 2004 solo debut, Reyli en la Luna.
∙ “Amor Gitano,” a flamenco-inspired track cowritten by Barba for the deluxe version of Beyoncé’s 2006 album B’Day, enjoyed a decade-long reign as Spain’s best-selling single.
∙ Several of Barba’s songs became TV themes, including “Se Quien Soy” (for Mexico’s version of Big Brother) and “La Descarada” (for the telenovela Rubí).
