Wiwek
Artist ∙ Dance
Holland's Wiwek is known for the cutting-edge electronic-based dance music he dubbed "jungle terror." Influenced by his Indian upbringing, he started mixing in samples of traditional hand drums and steel drum kicks alongside more standard EDM sounds. By 2011, his tracks were included on playlists by Tiësto and Fedde Le Grand. Around this time, he released several cuts on Toca45 and remixed Buraka Som Sistema's "Hangover." In 2012, he and producer Gregor Salto formed the RIMBU label, releasing the singles "Angry Birdz" and "On Your Mark." Since then, Wiwek released tracks on a bevy of labels, including Mad Decent and OWSLA. He is also an in-demand live DJ, with appearances at such festivals as Ultra Miami and Tomorrowland. ~ Matt Collar
