Jeet Gannguli

Artist ∙ Soundtrack

As a composer and multi-instrumentalist working in Bengali and Hindi music, Jeet Gannguli is a master of cinematic, fusion-informed love songs.

• Gannguli’s first step into composition came when he worked in the theatre scene in Mumbai in 1996.
• He trained in Indian classical music, studied under jazz guitar great Carlton Kitto and picked up Western classical influences as well.
• Gannguli got his first break in Bollywood with the 2001 film Tere Liye, a soundtrack he co-created with Pritam. The duo would go on to work together on other films, including 2002's Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.
• On 2012’s Raaz 3D and Blood Money; and 2013’s Aashiqui 2, he worked with top singers like Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
• Stirring ballads like “Khamoshiyan” and “Muskurane” not only cemented Gannguli’s place in the film music world, but also aided the career of singer Arijit Singh, his collaborator on those tracks.
• In 2014, Gannguli won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for his work on Aashiqui 2.
