Krewella
Artist ∙ Dance
The rock-influenced dance production duo Krewella features Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, sisters of Pakistani descent.
• Formed in Chicago’s meat district, Krewella was initially a trio that included producer Kris Trindl. Their 2011 debut single, “Killin' It,” mixed harsh dubstep drops with the sisters' feisty vocals and became an instant club hit.
• Krewella’s 2013 debut album, Get Wet, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
• Trindle was fired from the group in 2014, which led to a series of suits and countersuits.
• After becoming a twosome, Krewella experimented with greater stylistic range. In 2016, they toured intimate rock clubs with a full band, and their 2020 sophomore LP, zer0, incorporates live instrumentation reflecting their Asian roots.
