CamelPhat

Artist ∙ Dance

When UK duo CamelPhat released their 2017 single “Cola” with Elderbrook, it introduced dance music’s deeper, groove-laden underground sound to the mainstream. Cemented by a Grammy nomination and a No. 1 on the Billboard dance charts, it was a breakthrough moment years in the making. Mike Di Scala and Dave Whelan began producing together under various aliases in 2006 before launching CamelPhat with 2010’s Kill The VIP EP. Earlier singles like “Sun Comes Up” (featuring Jaxon), “Constellations,” and “Trip” displayed their versatility, ranging from big bassline tech to gentle melodic house. Post-“Cola,” the duo delivered more big records including “Be Someone,” “Panic Room,” and “Hypercolour”—brooding progressive-house tunes that would eventually mold their 2020 debut album Dark Matter. Even with a winning formula, CamelPhat continued expanding its sonic worldview on 2023’s Spiritual Milk: “We’re just trying to show what we’re about,” the duo told Apple Music. “We’re eclectic. We can do a bit of everything.”
