Hifi Sean
Artist ∙ Dance
Ex-Soup Dragon-turned-house DJ Sean Dickson produces collaborative electronic disco-inspired pop under the moniker Hifi Sean. His playful nickname derives from the Scot's place in another act, the High Fidelity, who split in 2001. After years away from music, he moved to London and began to DJ at parties on the gay scene. His debut album under this name, 2017's Ft., included work alongside a roll call of Dickson's inspirators: Bootsy Collins, Dave Ball, Paris Grey, Crystal Waters, Yoko Ono, Alan Vega, and David McAlmont. The latter vocalist, of McAlmont & Butler fame, reconvened with Hifi Sean in subsequent years on ambitious Bollywood orchestra-augmented sessions for a long-delayed album that eventually appeared as Happy Ending in early 2023.
