Paloma Faith

Artist ∙ Pop

English pop singer Paloma Faith is known for songs that draw on pop and classic soul, as well as for her distinctive sense of style.

• Before she began making original music, Faith studied contemporary dance, worked as a magician’s assistant, fronted a cabaret cover band called Paloma and the Penetrators, and did a stint singing in a burlesque troupe.
• Faith began writing and recording her own songs after turning down a chance to join Amy Winehouse’s band.
• She released her debut album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?, in 2009, the same year she sang on albums by English electronic duo Basement Jaxx and the enigmatic American rapper MF Doom.
• Faith’s fourth album, Architect, was her first to reach No. 1 in the UK.
• In addition to music, Faith landed roles in the 2007 British film comedy St. Trinian’s and Terry Gilliam’s 2009 fantasy The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
