DJ Fresh
Artist ∙ Dance
Fast-and-furious English beatmaker DJ Fresh is a leader of the modern drum ’n’ bass scene who’s propelled the underground sound onto the charts.
• In the early ’90s, DJ Fresh broke out as a member of D’n’B group Bad Company, pioneering the techstep subgenre with dark, rapid-rhythm hits like “The Nine” and “Planet dust.”
• On his solo productions, he explores deeper melodies, pulling inspiration from acid house, rock, jazz, and pop—though each sound is layered over his signature frenetic D’n’B drums.
• His third studio album, 2012’s Nextlevelism, spawned two No. 1 UK hits: “Louder,” featuring Sian Evans, and “Hot Right Now,” featuring Rita Ora.
• “Hot Right Now” was nominated for British Single of the Year at the BRIT Awards.
