Nicolai Berezowsky

Artist ∙ Classical

Berezowsky studied at the imperial chapel in St Petersburg and violin in Vienna with Robert Pollack. He moved to the USA in 1922 and played for The New York PO. He became an American citizen in 1928. His compositional style is a mixture of Russian folk styles, orchestration like that of Rimsky-Korsakov and some dissonance. He enjoyed critical acceptance for his symphonies. Babar the Elephant, his opera for children, was often performed. ~ Lynn Vought
