Peter Serkin
Artist ∙ Classical
Son of acclaimed pianist Rudolf Serkin, Peter Serkin was known as one of the most thoughtful, adventurous, and technically prodigious pianists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He was notable for his devotion to both the classics and contemporary music. Among composers who wrote for him were Elliott Carter, Charles Wuorinen, Peter Lieberson, and Toru Takemitsu. Serkin also performed and recorded works by Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Chopin, and Brahms. A soloist with many of the world's great orchestras and collaborator with some of his most illustrious contemporaries, Serkin was the winner of multiple Grammys. ~ Stephen Eddins
