Ailish Tynan

Soprano Ailish Tynan has a wide repertory stretching from Baroque to contemporary music, from song recitals to opera. She has an ongoing artistic relationship with composer Judith Weir. In 2003, Tynan was named a BBC New Generation Artist by the Radio 3 network. In 2006, Tynan made her recording debut, appearing on the album On Buying a Horse: The Songs of Judith Weir. Weir's 2015 song cycle Nuits d'Afrique was written for Tynan, and she has attracted top accompanists such as Graham Johnson and Simon Lepper, often performing at London's Wigmore Hall. Tynan released the album Schumann in English, Vol. 1, in 2024.
