Band On The Run (2010 Remaster)

Recorded under less than ideal circumstances in Lagos, Nigeria after two key members quit, Band on the Run was Wings' make-or-break moment. The rough-and-ready studio sound adds some welcome grit on rockers like "Jet" and the affectionate John Lennon tribute "Let Me Roll It." Elsewhere, the title track is one of McCartney's most soaring multi-part pop masterpieces, and "Bluebird" is a tender acoustic love song. Quirkier material, like the playful "Mrs. Vandebilt" and "Picasso's Last Words (Drink To Me)," adds even more depth.

Wingspan: Hits and History

Few songwriters make music that’s as affecting and seemingly effortless as Paul McCartney’s. This collection from his solo years showcases his colorful and optimistic pop songs (“Let ‘Em In”), strutting rockers (“Live and Let Die”), and those immaculately desolate ballads (“Maybe I’m Amazed”). Always led by melody, his songwriting follows an eccentric trail through folk balladry (“Mull of Kintyre”), ‘50s rock (“Let Me Roll It”), and sparkling pop-prog (“Band On the Run”), with a melancholy undercurrent that leaves a stain on the heart (“Junk”).

Venus and Mars (Archive Collection) [2014 Remaster]

Coming after Paul McCartney’s post-Beatles breakthrough album Band on the Run, 1975's Venus and Mars was met with great expectations. Notably, guitarist Jimmy McCulloch joined the group, while McCartney’s muse didn't abandon him; songs like “Rock Show,” “Magneto and Titanium Man,” “Letting Go,” and “Listen to What the Man Said” proved his knack for superior songwriting and musicianship. This remaster was done at Abbey Road studios with McCartney overseeing the team that worked on the exquisite 2009 Beatles remasters. The deluxe edition includes b-sides, demos, and unreleased tracks for a complete picture of Wings circa 1975.

Wings Over America (Live) [2013 Remaster]

Paul McCartney’s 1975–76 U.S. tour with Wings was the first chance many Americans got to see a solo Beatle play live. The sense of occasion is palpable, especially when McCartney plays affecting versions of Beatles ballads “Blackbird” and “Yesterday.” The versatility of the musicians—including multi-instrumentalist Denny Laine and a buoyant horn section—is obvious in their ability to translate everything from soaring ballads (“Maybe I’m Amazed,” “My Love”) to widescreen pop extravaganzas (“Live and Let Die,” “Band on the Run”).

Wings At The Speed Of Sound (Archive Collection) [2014 Remaster]

Facing criticism that Wings were a glorified Paul McCartney solo project, Sir Paul opened the songwriting to the other members. Further, though this album is known for the massive hit singles “Let ‘Em In” and “Silly Love Songs,” the underrated McCartney composition “The Note You Never Wrote” was sung by guitarist Denny Laine, who contributed the excellent “Time to Hide.” This remaster was done at Abbey Road studios, with McCartney overseeing the team that worked on the exquisite 2009 Beatles remasters. The deluxe edition features demos and unreleased tracks, including demos of the biggest hits and a version of “Beware My Love” with Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham on drums.
