Peter Mintun
Artist ∙ Pop
Society pianist Peter Mintun was born and raised in Berkeley, CA, teaching himself to play music by ear at the age of three. Always drawn to the classic melodies of the Depression era, he rejected contemporary musical trends in favor of honing his skills as an accompanist at parties, ballroom dances and silent movie presentations; in 1994, Mintun issued his debut album Deep Purple, and a year later began a seasonal engagement at New York's Carlyle Hotel. Grand Piano followed in 1996, and a year later Mintun resurfaced with Piano at the Paramount; 1999 saw the release of his fourth album, Yours for a Song: Here's to the Ladies. ~ Jason Ankeny
