MOGUAI

Artist ∙ Dance

Over the course of his decades-long career, influential German DJ and producer MOGUAI has gone from organizing small club shows to rocking the world’s largest stages.

• MOGUAI is André Tegeler, a former law student who listened to punk, ska, and psychobilly before discovering techno at a club in Düsseldorf. He fell hard for dance music and taught himself how to DJ.
• He started gaining steam as a producer under the alias Dial M For Moguai. He used that name for his 1998 club classic “Beatbox,” which reached No. 45 on the German charts. MOGUAI wrote the song with Phil Fuldner, with whom he founded the label PUNX Studios.
• His international breakthrough came with the 2002 single “U Know Y.” The UK girl group Sugababes sampled the track for their 2004 hit “In the Middle.”
• “Mammoth,” his anthemic 2013 big room house collaboration with Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, proved an EDM earworm for the ages. In a 2020 retrospective, organizers for the Tomorrowland festival named it the second best song ever played at the event.
• In recent years, MOGUAI has joined up with popular contemporaries like Moby—whose song “Extreme Ways” he remixed in 2012—and deadmau5, who regularly releases MOGUAI’s music on his mau5trap label.
• MOGUAI shares his favorite dance picks via his own show on Germany’s most popular radio station, WDR 1Live. He also produces the show PUNX Up The Volume, which is broadcasted in 40 different countries.
