Ryder

Artist ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap

Ryder makes an assertive brand of off-balance electro-pop that follows the example of artists like Sia, M.I.A., and Passion Pit. Born and raised in New York City on a variety of music, including opera and folk, Danielle Draizin started studying voice at the age of seven, writing poetry at eight, and writing songs in her early teens. While in high school, she had the opportunity to write and record with a handful New York City producer/songwriters such as Dave Tozer (John Legend, Kimbra) and Angela Hunte (Jay-Z, Black Violin). She continued to develop her sound and studio skills as a student at NYU and after moving to Los Angeles. Having already adopted the Ryder moniker from a childhood persona, she began appearing as a featured vocalist on tracks by others, including Dyro (2014's "Calling Out") and Blasterjaxx/DBSTF (2015's "Beautiful World").
Ryder released her first single, "Pretty Little Gangster," in mid-2015. The song went viral, garnering millions of plays across music sites. She followed it with the more reflective but still vibrant "Ruins" later that year, and "Fade Away" in early 2016. She continued to self-release periodic singles amid remixes of her songs, with "Nirvana" and "King" arriving in 2017. ~ Marcy Donelson
