Jim Jones

Artist ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap

As a solo artist and member of the influential group The Diplomats, aka Dipset, brash New York City rapper Jim Jones has left an indelible mark on hip-hop culture.

• Jones formed The Diplomats in 1997 with fellow Harlem rapper Cam’ron.
• In 2003, the group released their debut album, Diplomatic Immunity. Featuring songs like “Dipset Anthem” and “I Really Mean It,” the album represented a changing of the guard in NYC rap.
• Jones branched off in 2004 and released his solo debut, On My Way to Church.
• Jones had a banner year in 2006, releasing Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment)—his second straight No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart—and appearing on a wildly popular T-shirt by the streetwear brand Supreme.
• You couldn’t go anywhere in 2006 without hearing Jimmy’s “We Fly High,” as the ubiquitous smash peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
• In 2011, Jones entered the reality TV fray, appearing on the VH1 series Love & Hip Hop: New York. The following year, he and girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin launched their own spin-off, Chrissy & Mr. Jones.
• The Dipset co-leader finally squashed his longstanding feud with cross-town rival JAY-Z in 2017 and signed a management deal with Roc Nation.
