Hamish Hawk

Artist ∙ Alternative

Edinburgh-born singer/songwriter Hamish Hawk's intense, lyrical compositions blend aspects of indie rock and chamber pop, and are laced with a bone-dry sense of humor, while often being crammed with seemingly disparate historical and cultural references. Kenny Anderson, aka King Creosote, produced Hawk's self-released 2014 debut album, Aznavour, followed by the Mull EP in 2015. From Zero to One -- his first album with his band the New Outfit -- was issued in 2018, while the following year's Laziest River EP was a somber, piano-led set. Recorded in 2019 and released in 2021, his third album, Heavy Elevator, was his first to benefit from a promotion drive, and its singles received national airplay in the U.K. In 2023, Angel Numbers became his first to register on the U.K. album chart. Hawk's fifth album, A Firmer Hand, followed in 2024 and was loosely themed as an anthology of his relationships.
