Since the mid-’90s, Indian playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan has contributed vocals to more than 600 films and appeared on upwards of 300 soundtracks.

∙ Chauhan made her professional debut at age 12, singing on the track “Ladki Deewani Ladka Deewana,” from the 1996 action film Shastra.
∙ “Ruki Ruki,” which became her breakout hit when it appeared in the movie Mast, won her New Music Talent honors at the 2001 Filmfare Awards.
∙ Between 2005 and 2011, she was nominated for 11 Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer awards, winning in 2007 (“Beedi”) and 2011 (“Sheila Ki Jawani”).
∙ “Sheila Ki Jawani,” her collaborative single with Vishal Dadlani, hit No. 3 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart in 2011.
∙ In 2011, Chauhan appeared on the hit song “Heartbeat (India Mix)”—a regional remix of Enrique Iglesias’ international hit.
∙ Coldplay’s Chris Martin invited Chauhan to represent India at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival, where she performed for more than 60,000 people in New York City’s Central Park.
