The Bonfyre

Artist ∙ R&B/Soul

Within two years of landing a record deal, singer and songwriter The Bonfyre had scored two No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart.

• Massachusetts native Chelsey LaRue credits her Samoan stepfather with sharing his Polynesian culture, which emphasizes music and dance.
• She named herself The Bonfyre because she wants her music to sound warm and inviting, like a bonfire.
• The Bonfyre posted music online that earned her a club gig. That led to Raphael Saadiq—the R&B legend known for his work in the group Tony! Toni! Toné!—becoming her mentor.
• In 2018, The Bonfyre signed to L.A. Reid’s HITCO imprint.
• The single “Automatic,” off The Bonfrye’s 2018 EP Ready to Love, spent a month at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart.
• In 2020, The Bonfyre returned to No. 1 on the Adult R&B Songs chart with “U Say,” a collaboration with 6LACK. The song appears on her 2020 project Love, Lust & Let Downs: Chapter 1.
