Dodgy

Artist ∙ Rock

The artful Dodgy separated themselves from the Britpop overlaod of the 1990s with a dynamic pop sound centered around their trademark three-part harmonies. No happy accident, vocalist/bassist Nigel Clark, drummer Mathew Priest, and guitarist Andy Miller spent a year honing the melody. The trio inaugurated "Dodgy Club," their own weekly hangout, featuring eclectic DJs with the band popping in to play the finale. A&M noticed and 1993’s THE DODGY ALBUM was filled with buoyant '60s-styled pop tunes; however, the sophomore record was the true breakthrough. HOMEGROWN spawned the memorable singles "Staying Out For The Summer" and "So Let Me Go Far" and won the hearts of the notoriously finicky public. After FREE PEACE SPIRIT produced the hit "Good Enough," Clark left the band in June of 1998. Although Dodgy soldiered on, the act never achieved the same level of success.
