Artist ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap

Notorious for his biting lyrics and unpredictable behavior, grime-punk rapper slowthai is the voice of disenchanted British youth.

• The artist born Tyron Frampton began freestyling with his peers in his teens. Before long, he was skipping school to record songs at a friend’s house.
• In 2016, slowthai released his self-produced debut single “Jiggle.”
• Celebrated for its no-holds-barred commentaries on life in Britain, his 2019 debut album, Nothing Great About Britain, topped the UK R&B chart and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.
• He received backlash for holding an effigy of the severed head of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and wearing a “F**CK BORIS” tee during his Mercury Prize performance.
• Also in 2019, showthai appeared on “High Beams,” off Australian DJ and producer Flume’s Grammy-nominated Hi This Is Flume, and on “WHAT’S GOOD,” a song from Tyler, The Creator’s Grammy-winning album IGOR.
• In 2020, slowthai earned his first Grammy nomination—for Best Dance Recording—for his contributions to Disclosure’s “My High.”
• With features from Skepta and ASAP Rocky, slowthai’s 2021 album TYRON topped the UK charts. Its lead single, “Feel Away,” is a tribute to the rapper’s younger brother, who died from muscular dystrophy at just a year old.
