Struggle Jennings

Artist ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap

Country rapper Struggle Jennings finds common ground between modern hip-hop and the classic outlaw country sound of his step-grandfather, Waylon Jennings.

• Born in Nashville, Jennings is the grandson of country musician Jessi Colter, the step-grandson of outlaw country legend Waylon Jennings, and the nephew of singer-songwriter Shooter Jennings
• The rapper recorded his 2013 debut album, I Am Struggle, while facing more than 38 years in prison on drug conspiracy charges. He filmed the music video for “Black Curtains” in county jail while awaiting transfer to a state prison following his sentencing.
• Upon his release in 2016, Jennings began working on more music. He teamed up with fellow country rapper Jelly Roll for 2017’s Waylon & Willie, which spawned two sequels the following year and a fourth installment in 2020.
• In 2018, he recorded the EP Spiritual Warfare with his mother, singer Jenni Eddy Jennings. The following year, he teamed up with his daughter Brianna Harness for Angels & Outlaws.
