Oliver Koletzki

Artist ∙ Electronic

A highly influential figure on the dance music scene, German producer, DJ, and label owner Oliver Koletzki started out making hip-hop beats before graduating to the house and techno sounds that would define his career.

• When he was 12, Koletzki began producing hip-hop on his Commodore 64 computer.
• He moved to Berlin in 2000 to study music and soon started DJing in local clubs. His recording career got off to an impressive start with the 2005 single “Der Mückenschwarm,” which readers of the German magazine Groove voted as Track of the Year.
• After starting Stil vor Talent (Style over Talent) in 2005, Koletzki used the label as a vehicle for his own music—starting with the 2005 single “Blackout”—along with singles and albums by dozens of other artists, including David August, Niconé, and Township Rebellion.
• Following his first DJ mix CD, 2006’s The Process, Koletzki released Get Wasted, his first official LP, in 2007.
• In 2010, Koletzki teamed with the German singer Fran (Franziska Lauter) on Lovestoned, an album with a distinct pop sensibility.
• Koletzki cracked the German Top 20 with his 2012 album Großstadtmärchen 2, a sequel of sorts to his Berlin-inspired 2009 release Großstadtmärchen.
• In 2013, Stil vor Talent launched the compilation series Schneeweiß, inspired by the name of a popular restaurant in Berlin. Koletzki is said to compile the track listings with the restaurant’s patrons in mind.
• After collaborating with German DJ and producer Niko Schwind on the 2018 album Noordhoek, Koletzki returned with the 2019 solo project Fire in the Jungle.
