California Sweetheart - EP

Album ∙ Hip-Hop/Rap ∙ 2014

Oakland's Lil Debbie first appeared a few years back as a founding member (theoretically the "DJ/stylist") of The White Girl Mob, alongside Kreayashawn and V-Nasty. Riding high on the viral success of Kreay's breakout YouTube smash "Gucci Gucci," the trio got a lot of online hype, at least partly due to their over-the-top subject matter and provocative outfits. Since then, Lil Debbie was kicked out of WGM, Kreayashawn dropped her debut album and had a baby, and V-Nasty collaborated with Gucci Mane. Last year, Debbie dropped the digi-EP Queen D, and now she returns with California Sweetheart. Lyrically, it's exactly what you'd expect, with basic rhymes all about sex, drugs, fashion, and Bay pride set to chunky throwback beats and minimal electro flourishes.
