Money Man has long been a grinder in the music industry, releasing a bevy of independent projects that outline his street-hardened philosophy and approach to the rap game; he puts an emphasis on quantity, but makes sure that the quality is always top notch, too. His albums, in the past, have been named after traumatic experiences, with titles that signify struggle or loss, like 2019’s Paranoia, 2020’s Epidemic, 2022’s Blackout, or Purple Heart from 2024. But on the follow-up to that project, which he made with superproducers Zaytoven and Trauma Tone and released later the same year, he plays into the title TMZ to honor his status as a rap celebrity.

Despite the glitz and glamour that comes alongside songs like “PRADA MASK” and “INVESTMENTS,” Money Man offers a look behind the scenes at the work that went into getting these cameras to roll. On “HOW IT GO,” Zay and Trauma cook up a morose piano line that provides plenty of pathos for Money Man to tap into. He uses Auto-Tune to narcotize his flow, and suggests that the sacrifices he’s made never stray far from his mind despite his status in the game.
