Mobile, Alabama’s Yung Bleu delivers another bouquet of sentimental serenades to follow his Investments 5 mixtape from 2018. On Bleu Vandross 2, the “Ice on My Baby” singer continues rolling flattering lyrics over minimal trap production and sliding between roles as a considerate, committed man (“Kids to Bed”) to unpredictable, defenseless Lothario (“Only God Knows”). Bleu also nods to his street rap origins and influences on the Juicy J-featuring “Gangsta Music” in the spirit of Biggie’s “Dreams.” Throughout the project’s seven cuts, Yung Bleu rides the line between rapper and singer, using verses to iron out the gritty details of love while softening the landing with layered, Auto-Tuned hooks. The balance creates a passion-fueled air prime for setting the mood.
