DaniLeigh was ushered into the industry by none other than Prince—he requested that the newcomer direct and star in his 2013 “Breakfast Can Wait” video. So when she purrs about how you can’t get on her level (“Can’t Relate”), she’s probably right. The Plan is a concise but wide-ranging distillation of the Miami-born artist’s multi-talents (her résumé includes rapper, singer, dancer, and director). Here, DaniLeigh dabbles in too-cool-for-you trap to Aaliyah-inspired R&B, while sprinkling in the occasional Spanish lyrics to rep her Dominican roots. She also features Lil Baby on a song called “Lil Bebe”—give the woman her props.
