Taki Taki (feat. Selena Gomez, Ozuna & Cardi B) - Single

Album ∙ Dance ∙ 2018

If you’re pondering the meaning behind the title of DJ Snake’s reggaetón posse cut, don’t overthink it: “Taki Taki” doesn’t actually have an official definition, but it sure does roll off the tongue. (Say it out loud! Didn’t that feel good?) The star-powered single arrives during a particularly rich time for Spanish-language pop crossovers, as reggaetón and Latin trap have gone international. For Ozuna, a native of Puerto Rico, singing in Spanish is standard. But here, he’s joined by bilingual verses from Bronx bombshell Cardi B, with whom he previously collaborated on 2017’s “La Modelo,” and pop princess Selena Gomez—both of whom swerve seamlessly between English and Español. Ozuna plays the role of the smitten guy in the club, though your average clubgoer probably isn’t dropping casual references to the Anunnaki (a group of ancient Mesopotamian deities) as he spits game. Still, the ladies play it cool, making it clear that the ball’s in their court—and who else but Cardi could convincingly suggest a first date at the Lamborghini store?
