Pharaoh has been shaking up the Russian rap scene since his 2014 debut. Pink Phloyd—as the name might suggest—is a mixtape inspired by the British musical movements of the ‘70s. It offers up a compelling eclecticism, with upbeat summer tracks like “School”, the sweet romance of “One Whole” and autobiographical tracks like “Lonely Star”. The result is a deeply honest, emotional work—Pharaoh laying himself bare as an artist and finally coming of age.
